Earth School of Ju Jutsu

What is Ju Jutsu?

Ju Jutsu is the martial art of the Samurai.  It is the father of all the Japanese martial arts, including Judo, Aikido, Ninjutsu, etc.  In essence Ju Jutsu is the original "mixed martial art", encompassing unarmed and armed defences against unarmed or armed attacks by single, or multiple/simultaneous, assailants.

The name "Ju Jutsu", sometimes spelt: Ju Jitsu, Jiu Jiutsu, Jiu Jutsu, etc. translates from two Japanese words: Ju, meaning "gentle, or pliant" & Jutsu, meaning "art, or artifice".  Thus Ju Jutsu is often referred to as the "gentle art" because through giving way to an attacking force (rather than opposing it), the practitioner's response to a violent attack may appear gentle by comparison.
Ju Jutsu, in its modern practical application, is an art of self-defence. It is entirely reflexive, but not reactionary, and is related to defence against an unprovoked attack.

Using Ju Jutsu, an unjust and violent attack may be neutralised swiftly and cleanly with control over all aspects of the encounter, so that effective self-defence is possible without the necessity for inflicting serious injury.

Ju Jutsu, at its highest level, allows the practitioner to defend without actually appearing to do so.

The Earth School of Ju Jutsu currently meets on Tuesday night, 7:30 - 9:30, at North Ryde RSL Youth Club
